Free admission for evacuees.

Alberta’s government is offering free general admission to our world-class museums and historic sites in support of displaced Albertans who must leave their homes due to wildfires. Visitors are asked to provide their postal code or government ID to verify their evacuation status. Sites will continue to offer free admission until evacuees are able to return home.

On most weekdays in June Stephansson House hosts school programs. Due to the size of the museum, we are unable to conduct guided tours while schools are on site. Please call us at 780.427.0357 or email us at Stephansson.House@gov.ab.ca beforehand to ensure we can give you the best possible experience during your visit.

Runic Writing

Come and explore the mysterious world of runes!

Early Norse or Viking settlers brought runic writing with them when they settled in Iceland, and they are repeatedly used in numerous Icelandic sagas such as Egil’s saga.

Learn how to write your name with runes or write out a favourite quote.
